Day 1: Departure from US (April 8)

On our way to The Holy Land!

Day 2: Arrive Ben Gurion Airport/Transfer to Jerusalem (April 9)

  • Arrive in Tel Aviv

  • Meet our local guides: Canon Iyad Qumri & Rami Qumri

  • Transfer to accommodations in Jerusalem

  • Dinner & overnight at St. George’s Guest House

Day 3: Horizons of Jerusalem/Herodium (April 10)

  • Walk to Damascus Gate

    • Get the feel for the short distance to the Old City, an introduction to the immediate neighborhood, and our surroundings.

  • Visit Mt. Scopus

    • First views of the Judean desert, Mt. of Olives, and the City of David.

  • Herodium

    • Twelve kilometers south of Jerusalem, on a hill shaped like a truncated cone stood Herodium, stands the palace-fortress built by King Herod. It had a breathtaking view, overlooking the Judean desert, and the mountains of Moab to the east, and the Judean hills to the west.

  • Guest speaker: Contemporary Issues - Lecture on Islam

  • Dinner & overnight at St. George’s Guest House

Day 4: Western Wall/Dome of The Rock/Ramallah/Israel Museum (April 11)

  • Visit and pray at the Western Wall

  • Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque

  • Sunday Eucharist at St. Andrew’s Church in Ramallah

    • The liturgy will be celebrated in both English and Arabic.

  • Visit the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book

    • Spend time among the archaeological riches of the country, the exhibit displaying the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the scale  model of the Old City of Jerusalem which portrays the city as it would have been in Jesus’ time.

  • Dinner & overnight at St. George’s Guest House

Day 5: Shepherds’ Field/Bethlehem (April 12)

  • Depart Jerusalem for Bethlehem and the Shepherds’ Field

    • Visit a first-century cave dwelling.

  • Lunch in Beit Sahour (Shepherds’ Field)

    • “and in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night”

  • Visit Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem

    • Located in Manger Square, this is the oldest church in Christendom, constructed by Emperor Constantine in 326CE, and the traditional site of the birth of Jesus.

  • Guest Speaker: Contemporary Issues - An Israeli Perspective

  • Dinner & overnight at St. George’s Guest House

Day 6: Jericho/Nazareth
(April 13)

  • Depart Jerusalem in time for sunrise at Wadi Quelt

    • View the expansive Judean desert.

  • Depart east for Jericho

    • Visit perhaps the oldest known inhabited city on earth!

  • Cable car and hike up Mount of Temptation

    • Meditation on Mt. of Temptation and view of Tell Jericho and the ongoing archaeological excavations dating back to 10,000BCE.

  • Depart north, following the Jordan Valley to the city of Nazareth

  • Mary’s Well

    • This is the site of the only spring-fed fountain in the city, and most likely the place where Mary would have gone to draw water.

  • Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation

    • Have an opportunity to view and learn about the famous Icon in the place where, according to Orthodox tradition, the Angel Gabriel first appears to Mary.

  • Latin Church of the Annunciation

    • This is the Western Church’s traditional site of the Angel Gabriel’s appearance to Mary, announcing that she would conceive and bear Jesus, Emmanuel.

  • Dinner & overnight at the Sisters of Nazareth

Day 7: Sepphoris/Caesarea Philippi (April 14)

  • Zippori, Sepphoris

    • Explore the excavations of the magnificent Roman/Byzantine city in Galilee.

  • Caesarea Philippi (Banias)

    • “and Jesus went on with his disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say that I am?’”

  • Dinner & overnight at the Sisters of Nazareth

Day 8: Jordan River/Capernaum/Beatitudes/Tabgha (April 15)

  • Sea of Galilee / Lake Kinnereth

  • Jordan River

    • Prayers and renewal of baptismal vows.

  • Fishing village of Capernaum

    • Visit the ancient synagogue and St. Peter’s house, both likely visited by Jesus.

  • Mount of the Beatitudes

  • Tabgha (Heptapegon)

    • Visit The Loaves and Fishes Church and the Chapel of St. Peter’s Primacy.

  • Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee in a traditional fishing boat

  • Dinner & overnight at the Sisters of Nazareth

  • After dinner: a special treat you will not want to miss!!!!

Day 9: Burqin/Nablus/Taybeh
(April 16)

  • Depart Nazareth for Burqin

    • Jesus passed through Burqin on his way from Nazareth to Jerusalem. As he passed by the village, he heard cries for help from ten lepers who were isolated in quarantine in a cave.

  • Nablus & St. Photini Greek Orthodox Monastery

    • St. Photini lived in first-century Palestine. She was the Samaritan woman who conversed with Jesus at the well, where he asked her for water. Tour the church built over Jacob’s well and drink from the well.

  • Taybeh

    • This is the only 100% Christian town in Palestine. In the fourth-century, Emperor Constantine and his mother, St. Helena, built the church of St. George in the village. The ruins of the church are still found on a hill overlooking the town. We will also visit the Taybeh Brewery, the only brewery in Palestine.

  • Dinner & overnight at St. George’s Guest House

Day 10: Beth-Phage/Dominus Flevit/Gethsemane/Princess Basma Center/Dead Sea (April 17)

  • Walk the route of the Palm Sunday Procession

  • Pater Noster & Dominus Flevit

    • This small chapel marks the spot where Jesus wept over the city. The name ‘Dominus Flevit’ is Latin for ‘the Lord wept.’

  • Garden of Gethsemane & Church of All Nations

  • Princess Basma Center

    • The Center, funded by churches in the Anglican Communion, is the home and rehabilitation facility for Palestinian children disabled by paralyses, strokes, autism, debilitating injuries, congenital disabilities, and other physical and emotional needs. A donation will be made in the name of our pilgrimage group.

  • Lunch at the Qumri home

  • Dead Sea

    • You will have the option to swim – or actually, float! – at Rocky Beach, as well as smear yourself with the black mud that has for centuries been reputed to have therapeutic properties.

  • Dinner & overnight at the St. George’s Guest House

Day 11: Worship at St. George’s Cathedral/Church of The Holy Sepulchre (April 18)

  • Sunday Eucharist at the Cathedral

    • The liturgy will be celebrated in both English and Arabic.

  • Cardo Bazaar and Church of the Resurrection

  • Free time to wander and explore the Old City

  • Dinner & overnight at the St. George’s Guest House

Day 12: Way of The Cross/Emmaus/Depart for Home (April 19)

  • Walk and pray the Way of the Cross

  • Emmaus Nicopolis

    • Celebrate a closing Eucharist within the ruins of the ancient church.

  • Farewell Dinner

  • Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv

    • Return home, filled with memories and experiences that guarantee you will never hear or read the Gospels in the same way ever again!

  • Spaces reserved on ‘first received, first reserved’ basis. With only 25 spaces available for the pilgrimage, it is advisable to submit your deposit as early as possible.

  • At the present time, Spirited Pilgrimages is unable to process credit card payments. We are working to accommodate credit card payments in the near future. In the meantime, please submit deposit payments by check, made payable to ‘Spirited Pilgrimages’.

AIR TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • In order to keep the price affordable, Spirited Pilgrimages utilizes group airline ticket pricing. Group air tickets are priced in economy. Seat upgrades may be requested but cannot be guaranteed. Additional cost will be charged to traveler.

  • Spirited Pilgrimages does not have the ability to guarantee assigned seating when making group air arrangements. Air carriers are responsible for seat assignments, and most group air contracts assign seats at the airport check-in on day of departure.

  • Mileage credit for individuals on group air contracts is not guaranteed and is subject to the rules of each airline under contract.

  • Passengers wishing to cancel or change their air reservation may be subject to cancellation penalties.

  • Air schedules may be subject to change at the discretion of the airline.
